About StarHacks 🌟

StarHacks is an all-female identifying and nonbinary high school hackathon. It is an overnight virtual coding event where attendees of all different coding backgrounds work to build a project addressing a real-world issue (this year's theme is mental health).

Our mission is to provide a safe and empowering space for gender minorities in technology to explore coding, regardless of experience. We strive to encourage them to pursue technology and computing, a largely male-dominated field, making us one step closer to closing the gender gap.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a hackathon?

A hackathon is a competitive coding event where coders and tech-lovers come together to create solutions to real-world problems with technology. Attendees work together in teams to create a project addressing the hackathon's theme and have the opportunity to win pizes. Don't have any coding experience? That's totally fine! Hackathons are beginner-friendly environments where you can make new friends, turn some awesome ideas into reality, win prizes, and get free swag!

Do I have to pay?

No! StarHacks is totally free to attend. Just register here to get updated and save your spot to attend the event!

When and where is StarHacks?

Due to COVID-19, StarHacks is taking place virtually on January 23-24th.

What is the theme for this year's hackathon?

StarHacks I's theme is mental health! Attendees will be working to code mental health technology, and we will have speakers talking more about mental health as well!
